Pastor Dr. Benjamin Nebechukwu was born and raised in Awka, Anambra state, Nigeria. As a young man, growing up in Nigeria, all he wanted was to be a businessman. He went on to study marketing at Anambra State University, Nigeria. He is an alumnus of Haggai School of Advanced Leadership, Singapore. And recently, he was awarded a honorary Doctorate degree in Christian Mission by Zoe life theological college- Philadelphia, U.S.A. As a successful businessman, Pastor Benjamin traversed the world, visiting continental trade hubs. Back then, that globe-trotting was what he considered the ultimate in life. Until one day, God literally arrested him and asked where he would go after his mortal life is over. He then sought God with a ravenous fire, and an inexhaustible passion and unrivalled humility.
The beginning of his missionary work in Uganda can be likened to the story of father Abraham, in that God spoke to him clearly, commanding him to leave his father’s country, Nigeria and go to Uganda, a country he had never known; moreover a country where he knew no one. God spoke twice through his wife first and confirmed it the third time to him directly. In obedience, he went to Uganda for the first time in April 2001 leaving his young family behind. At that time, he would spend a month in Uganda and another month in Abuja, Nigeria, until one day under divine direction, he took a bold step of faith, sold all they had to their name including the only family house and moved to settle in Uganda in September 2003 Together with his wife, they founded Fountain of Light Ministries in 2005 in Bunga, a suburb of Kampala, but later changed the name to Living Word Assembly again by divine instruction on the eve of moving to the city centre.
The Almighty God has commissioned Pastor Benjamin in deliverance ministry to liberate men from oppression and all forms of frustrations. Through his teachings, he provides practical bible truths about life’s challenges and shows how to prayerfully deal with them aided by scriptures referred to as bullets; he teaches people ‘how to fish’, ‘how to deliver themselves’, thus emphasising the ‘do it yourself’ approach – John 14:12. His teachings are electric, his prayer ministry is fervent and he declares the truth of the Lord fearlessly and yet as plainly as it should be. The thousands that have flocked his counselling sessions and meetings both face to face and online testify to the wonders of God in his Ministry.
As a prolific author, Pastor Benjamin has published currently 51 (fifty one) life transforming books through The living Word publishers which is the publishing arm of the ministry, which are touching thousands of lives and setting captives free. Some of his books include: Targeted prayers; My foundation release me; Understanding your dreams; Escape from late marriage; The mystery of Holy Communion; Making the best out of life; Provoking your deliverance, Breaking limitations of life and many others. His messages are also aired within the country and in Kenya through the local radio stations and different parts of the world through Freedom Radio. Freedom Radio is an online Christian radio channel broadcasting from Kampala and owned by the Living Word Assembly Church. His vision encompasses reaching as many people as the Lord allows and exposing them to a life changing, spirit filled, worship experience and setting the captives free based on the living Word. Indeed a number of lives have been greatly impacted through the airwaves. The radio programs include a daily devotion, the Freedom Inspiration – a motivational show, Word exposition, The Freedom Thrill, an exciting and adventurous show. Pastor Ben through his ministry has also touched many lives through its welfare and out-reach programs. Under this umbrella, widows and orphans are catered for in terms of education and basic needs. The program also includes prison ministry. Beyond this, the Ministry is involved in corporate social responsibility activities as a platform for evangelism – the recent activities include the painting of Buganda Road primary school, the recent renovation of the Kampala Central Police Station and just recently, Pastor Ben and his family did a borehole project for a local community in Mayuge district in Busoga.
Today, the Living Word Assembly has thousands of members and four branches within the country with its’ main church located on Plot 21, Lumumba Avenue, Kampala, Uganda. Pastor Benjamin oversees the Ministry. He is married to Pastor Charity Ngozi Nebechukwu and together they are blessed with children.
