Psalm 126:1-6 - Surprises are unbelievable happenings that are beyond human comprehension - and that is the realm that God operates from.

SCRIPTUAL EXAMPLES:

  • Luke 1:19 - The angel of good news delivers the message to Zechariah and Elizabeth who have been childless for many years. This seemed like a dream, b'se Zechariah questioned the angel.
  • John 6:4-6: Passover Feast is highly celebrated in the Jewish Tradition. Jesus wanted to shock the crowd with unexpected feast in addition to the normal passover feast where He fed them before the passover
  • John 5:7 The man at the pool of Bethsaida - What he sought for the many years, He received a pleasant surprise from Jesus because:  a)He didn't know Jesus - Jesus was a stranger to him, b) For 38 years, no one had ever offered to help him despite his plea, c) He only knew he could be heeled by a man pooling him into the water
  • Luke 7:11-15 - Jesus raises a dead man
  • Mephibosheth - 2 Samuel 3:1 - The war between the household of Saul and David. Mephibosheth was the son of Jonathan and grandson of King Saul. The enemies (David) of his grandfather (Saul) were calling for his attention - 2 Samuel 9:5-7. David speared him on account of his father's (Jonathan) kindness

 KEYS TO EXPERIENCE POSITIVE SURPRISES

  • Blameless and careful existence: Luke 1:6 - Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous before God and following the Lord's commandments
  • 1 Corinthians 6:20 - Your body is a borrowed body, you shouldn't mismanage it. Your response towards your current situation will trigger God's response towards it
  • Humility: James 4:10| 1Peter 5:6. Humble yourself before God and He will lift you up. Mephibosheth humbled himself before David so that he can be exalted by God, 2 Samuel 3:1. Lucifer was cast out of heaven because of the sin of pride
  • Remain expectant - Maintain and Fuel your hope in God, by encouraging yourself daily and don't allow yourself to go into any depression - Malachi 3:1.
  • Kingdom service - Exodus 23:25. Zechariah encountered God at his point of his service. It is possible to serve God and massively be blessed by God. There is something that God has deposited in you that can be important in his kingdom - Exodus 23:25
  • Passion for God. This is inducive love for God. Passion inducing statements  in Psalm 42:1 | Psalm 63:1
  • Trust in God - This is unconditional commitment and dedication to God -Psalm 40:4. Positive surprises are conditioned in trusting in God - John 11:40. If you want to see the Glory, believe/trust in God. Proverbs 3:5 -Trust God from the bottom of  your heart.
