Delay in not only a life experience, it’s a spirit – it is more spiritual than physical. Delay can be defined as:

  • Being stagnated, to be postponed until a later time, to put a person in the waiting room of life, to prolong, to tally, to linger, to detain, to drag (Proverbs 13:12).
  • Delay is denied blessings – even though it is your right – it is diverted/denied/ or transferred blessings. Proverbs 13:12

Types of delay

  1. Divine delay – Where God is responsible for the delay and this will end up benefiting the person, or God wants that person to grow spiritually
  2. Personal delay – where the individual involved is responsible for his/her delay – is not involved in wicked activities, e.g. witchcraft, – her hope is in God alone
  3. Programmed delay –This is where delay has been programmed into a person’s life without the knowledge of the person, such as spell, curses.
  4. Inherited delay – established pattern in a particular family
  5. Witchcraft delay – The power of darkness is seducing and manipulating individual’s destiny. The spirit determines the physical. At sometimes, victims of witchcraft delay are not aware.
  6. Unconscious delay – When the individual is not aware of what is happening in his or her

The powers of delay usually have a targeted agenda, including:

  • To frustrate one’s life.
  • To slow individuals down
  • To humiliate and disgrace the victims
  • To weaken your faith in God –asking questions like God are you there??
  • To make your life bitter – Exodus 1:14
  • To make you blame God
  • To make you desperate in order to make harsh decisions in a hurry – He that believeth doesn’t make decisions in a hurry – Isaiah 28:16|1 Kings 19:1
  • To make you seek for option B, which is not a viable option
  • To provoke worry and anxiety
  • To bring wrong accusations and counter accusations

How to escape from the power of delay

  • Surrender everything about your life
  • Sit and inquire and evaluate where this delay is coming from – it will help you to be targeted in your prayer approach
  • Leave no stones unturned, until you have broken out of that delay.
